The Gig Report - Peter Brennan @ Cross Creek Brewing

The Gig Report – Peter Brennan @ Cross Creek Brewing   The Gig: Peter Brennan (performing Solo)   Date: June 13 2026    Venue: Cross Creek Brewing: Downtown Woodstock ( 8:00pm – 10:00pm)       The Scene…           Eight years ago, if you went to any type of drinking establishment to see live music, you would probably be met at the door by a staff member/ bouncer. This system would serve two purposes; one, being the infamous ID check, and the second, to see that none would enter without paying the cover charge.    Back then, the night’s entertainment would have been paid a flat performance fee, or been given the proceeds from the door, and sometimes a percentage of it.    But; then Covid happened and then the economy happened, with grocery prices sky-rocketing people just don’t have the means to go out on the town, so-to-speak, anymore.    In short, they have stopped going out.  ...

The Gig Report - Layney Ross w Ava Grace @ Fidelio Cafe

Image
Date: June 12 2026   Venue: Fidelio Café: Downtown Woodstock (6:00pm – 8:00pm)   The Scene…              Watching live music at the Fidelio Café is no joke; For, there are no riddles to solve. You step off the sidewalk, on main street, into a place that breathes warmth and familiarity, even if you have never been inside before. I believe it was designed that way. Really; the perfect venue for Layney Ross & Ava Grace to share their music with you; in a live setting.          I firmly believe, whether, or not, you can play an instrument or read music, or, you have the ability to do so, in some capacity, and you have created an environment for your kids to grow up with a philosophy that if you can speak, you can sing and if you can walk you can dance…well then you are a “music educator” because nurturing is not a miracle. I am writing this because, it isn’t lost on me t...

Album Review #2 Seth Anderson "These Exact Days, These Peaceful Nights"

Seth Anderson – These Exact  D ays,  These Peaceful Nights   Album Review  “Seth’s  musical  love letter to himself and the people, that matter”      Even in the quietest moments, the silence can speak volumes. And if you’re familiar with the expression “less is more” , there isn’t a more musical expression of that, then on Anderson’s fifth album; “These Exact Days,  These Peaceful Nights" .  The songs were written during the covid lockdown , a nd while it was soul crushing for a lot of us ,  Seth, turned the solace into a solstice .  And knowing that he had something special, he took his time, until he found the right person who would share in his vision, for how the album   should be recorded.   This is where, Lydia Loveless enters the picture . Seth  handpicked her, because of a mutual love of music and they shared the same musical influences.  T he Alt- Country singer is a talent in her own right. ...

The Gig Report - Mallory Chipman @ Fidelio Cafe

Image
The Gig:  Mallory Chipman w/ George Maguire (Opening)   Date: June 5 2026    Venue: Fidelio Café: Downtown Woodstock (6:00pm – 8:00pm)   The Scene…   Watching live music at the Fidelio Café is no joke; For, there are no riddles to solve. You step off the sidewalk, on main street, into a place that breathes warmth and familiarity, even if you have never been inside before. I believe it was designed that way. Really; the perfect venue for Mallory Chipman to play her show in New Brunswick.        The Warm Open:   The evening started off with the George Maquire the solo acoustic singer, song writer, and once resident in the area, now resides in Fredericton, but is no stranger to the crowd as he has friends in the audience. He plays a 30-minute set that has some covers but it’s when he plays his originals that he truly shines. Mostly because they are about people and experiences that have helped shape his life. And you can hear th...

Mallory Chipman: So far, so good... so much more to come!

Mallory Chipman: So far, so good…so much more to come!   On Friday June 5 th 2026, Mallory Chipman will be playing the Fidelio Café (Downtown Woodstock), with George Maguire (opening). The show runs from 6:00pm to 830pm. Why is it important, for you to be there in attendance? I’m sure everyone is familiar with that old rallying cry, “If we don’t support shows like this, then how can we expect to get bigger names to come to town? This doesn’t apply to Mallory, because she is the bigger name.    I must admit, that I am a bit nervous as I wait for her to call me to do an interview. At the 2026 Canadian Folk Music awards, Chipman was nominated for solo artist of the year. So, there’s that in the back of mind. Also, my head is filled 5 albums worth of music that she has released in the past ten years.  It’s an eclectic array of songs raging from Folk, Country, Pop, Roots, and Jazz and all of them have been given the breath of life by her voice, which is an instrum...
