Image
Seth Anderson – These Exact  D ays,  These Peaceful Nights   Album Review  “Seth’s  musical  love letter to himself and the people, that matter”      Even in the quietest moments, the silence can speak volumes. And if you’re familiar with the expression “less is more” , there isn’t a more musical expression of that, then on Anderson’s fifth album; “These Exact Days,  These Peaceful Nights" .  The songs were written during the covid lockdown , a nd while it was soul crushing for a lot of us ,  Seth, turned the solace into a solstice .  And knowing that he had something special, he took his time, until he found the right person who would share in his vision, for how the album   should be recorded.   This is where, Lydia Loveless enters the picture . Seth  handpicked her, because of a mutual love of music and they shared the same musical influences.  T he Alt- Country singer is a talent in her own right. ...

The Gig Report - Mallory Chipman @ Fidelio Cafe

Image
The Gig:  Mallory Chipman w/ George Maguire (Opening)   Date: June 5 2026    Venue: Fidelio Café: Downtown Woodstock (6:00pm – 8:00pm)   The Scene…   Watching live music at the Fidelio Café is no joke; For, there are no riddles to solve. You step off the sidewalk, on main street, into a place that breathes warmth and familiarity, even if you have never been inside before. I believe it was designed that way. Really; the perfect venue for Mallory Chipman to play her show in New Brunswick.        The Warm Open:   The evening started off with the George Maquire the solo acoustic singer, song writer, and once resident in the area, now resides in Fredericton, but is no stranger to the crowd as he has friends in the audience. He plays a 30-minute set that has some covers but it’s when he plays his originals that he truly shines. Mostly because they are about people and experiences that have helped shape his life. And you can hear th...

Mallory Chipman: So far, so good... so much more to come!

Mallory Chipman: So far, so good…so much more to come!   On Friday June 5 th 2026, Mallory Chipman will be playing the Fidelio Café (Downtown Woodstock), with George Maguire (opening). The show runs from 6:00pm to 830pm. Why is it important, for you to be there in attendance? I’m sure everyone is familiar with that old rallying cry, “If we don’t support shows like this, then how can we expect to get bigger names to come to town? This doesn’t apply to Mallory, because she is the bigger name.    I must admit, that I am a bit nervous as I wait for her to call me to do an interview. At the 2026 Canadian Folk Music awards, Chipman was nominated for solo artist of the year. So, there’s that in the back of mind. Also, my head is filled 5 albums worth of music that she has released in the past ten years.  It’s an eclectic array of songs raging from Folk, Country, Pop, Roots, and Jazz and all of them have been given the breath of life by her voice, which is an instrum...

Brass Camel; Listen Up "They've come for our ears"

Image
Brass Camel;  Listen up! “They’ve come for our ears”                          Brass is an alloy of copper & zinc  in proportions which can be varied to achieve different colours and mechanical, electrical, acoustic, and chemical properties .  A camel;  well, we all know what a camel is,  but  it is what they do, more importantly, that makes them special.  In short, they provide and they work.  These are just facts!                    However, if you formed a band and decided to call yourself “Brass Camel” …well you could be defined as this… Brass Camel is a band of 5 different musical Rasputin’s, which when brought together  achieve a sound of different textures and genres that exhibit musical properties of Progressive Rock, Funk, R&B and everything in between. And what makes them special is that it all works. These are j...

The Scene Report w Ken Moir Album Review #1 The Follow Ups - Know Who Your Friends Aren't

Image
From G to Shining C – East coast Punk An Album Review Know Who Your Friends Aren’t – The Follow Ups The Scene Report By Ken Moir   I listened to the first song, “Freak’n Out” from the Follow Ups, first Full-length album, “Know Who Your Friends Aren’t” at least 3 or 4 times before I was able to review the whole album. Not that it was a bad song It’s that something was missing. And it had nothing to do with the band. Truthfully, I really didn’t know them or their music. I usually go down a rabbit hole and try and find out as much as possible about a band before I write anything about them. I didn’t do that, in this case. In fact, the only thing I knew, was that, they were billed as the East Coast Ramones. “That’s lofty”, I said to myself. Now when I review or write something I sit in my office and clear my mind. A mental “please be seated, as it were, before I begin to express my thoughts on paper. But in my opinion, you cannot review a punk record sitting down…you g...
