Album Review #2 Seth Anderson "These Exact Days, These Peaceful Nights"
Seth Anderson– These Exact Days, These Peaceful Nights
Album Review
“Seth’s musical love letter to himself and the people, that matter”
Even in the quietest moments, the silence can speak volumes. And if you’re familiar with the expression “less is more”, there isn’t a more musical expression of that, then on Anderson’s fifth album; “These Exact Days, These Peaceful Nights". The songs were written during the covid lockdown, and while it was soul crushing for a lot of us, Seth, turned the solace into a solstice. And knowing that he had something special, he took his time, until he found the right person who would share in his vision, for how the album should be recorded.
This is where, Lydia Loveless enters the picture. Seth handpicked her, because of a mutual love of music and they shared the same musical influences. The Alt- Country singer is a talent in her own right. The two of them, together, have created a sparsely, nuanced, collection of twelve songs, that play like, scenes in a movie than individual tracks. That is not to say they don’t stand on their own. But every once in a while, you hear an album that requires headphones, your undivided attention, so you can listen to it from start to finish. This, my friends is one of those albums. If you’re familiar with Seth’s music, from the opening track “Kentucky”, you will get a sense that this record is different. With every song, you subtly hear, Seth peeling the layers away, giving the listener more insight, to the person and artist he is becoming. And in my opinion, he seems to very comfortable with where he is, Happy, if you will. Because the production and instrumentation are at times, nuanced, this helps draw attention to the lyrics, but also to one of Seth’s biggest gifts; HIS VOICE. Anderson’s vocals are fantastic on this record. “Feet on the Ground” is my favorite on the album, because it spoke to me the most. Of course, you will have to listen for your own self to find yours…I hope you do!
Seth will be performing Friday July 17 at Dooryard Arts Festival in downtown Woodstock! Be sure to grab tickets for this fantastic night of music featuring Joel Plaskett and The Hypochondriacs!
