Brass Camel; Listen Up "They've come for our ears"

Brass Camel; Listen up! “They’vecome for our ears”

Brass is an alloy of copper & zinc in proportions which can be varied to achieve different colours and mechanical, electrical, acoustic, and chemical properties.  A camel; well,we all know what a camel is, but it is what they do, more importantly, that makes them special. In short, they provide and they work.  These are just facts!

However, if you formed a band and decided to call yourself “Brass Camel” …well you could be defined as this…

Brass Camel is a band of 5 different musical Rasputin’s, which when brought together achieve a sound of different textures and genres that exhibit musical properties of Progressive Rock, Funk, R&B and everything in between. And what makes them special is that it all works. These are just facts!

They are 3 albums into their career as a band. And there has been already a lot of stuff written about them, so I won’t retread and bore you with facts about them. But there are some things you need to know, especially if you’re a fan of live music and live in the area.

Number 1: They will be playing their first show, in Woodstock, NB on May 27th at the Woodstock Legion, with the mighty Montieth opening. Tickets are $20.00 @ the door or @brasscamel.ca.  And yes, they are Canadian, having formed on west coast.

Number 2: They’re really, really good.  They have been cited as having a huge Rush (band) influence on their sound. It’s there but doesn’t overshadow, to what they are achieving musically. None of their influences do. And third…or

Number 3; if you will. They could very well be that band.

Every music fan has that band, that one band  makes them rethink what music is and what it is they like about it. A classic example of that in this area would be Morohubu/Stinking Rich.  For me there was a period of time in my life when if the music I was listening to, wasn’t put through a Marshall Stack and the singer didn’t wear a leather wrist band. I wasn’t interested. That is, until a friend of mine let me borrow his copy of “Yes’s Tormato/Tormato.  And “Yes”, was that one band that broadened my musical horizons. Coincidently the band is also an influence on Brass Camel’s sound. Are they that band…the only way to find out is to come see them live on May 27th 2026 @ the Woodstock Legion.
