The Scene Report – Jazz & Java Night @ The Fidelio Café

     Do you know how many articles you have to read on the subject of why coffee and jazz music instinctively go together? Just so one can write a fresh perspective on the subject that hasn’t been done before? The answer is a whole bunch of them, seriously.  But I digress. 


 

Let’s get into it!


 

     The Scene’s definition of the word warmth is defined by combining the elements “Cool Jazz with Hot Coffee”; Warmth. Warmth is comfortable…”it is just right” according to Goldilocks, anyways. And as humans we all strive to be comfortable, in just about everything we do.  For in the warmest of places, we find and are more perceptive and open to new things. That is the essence of “Jazz & Java Night at the Fidelio Café.  


 

     “Look…I just wanted to play music with my son.”  An enthusiastic Jonathon Goodine, who is positioned behind his keyboard, declares to the crowd at the very first very first “Jazz & Java Night” July 2nd 2026. He is referring his son Samuel on the other set of keys. Between the two of them sits Will Davidson, on bass guitar. And for the next two hours the three musicians will entertain, those in attendance to an incredible night of music. Another highlight from the first night is a surprise appearance from music educator and musician Nick Gummeson.  The night was success and there were many inquiries on when the next one was going to be.  I thought to myself on the way home on the possibility that it would and could continue?


            Of course, the answer is, yes! Which isn’t surprising because at its core the Jazz & Java Ensemble (That’s what I am calling the musicians, that could be or not be featured on any given night) is made up of people who have spent their adult lives trying to better and further the lives of our youth, through education, time & financial commitment, along with Megan Kearney who provided the place for all this to happen. Jazz & Java Night is here to stay. 


 

In closing: 


 

      You will be entertained for two hours by listening to Jazz played by musicians who have chops. Special guest musicians are appreciated and very much encouraged. The last Jazz & Java night featured the great Isaac McPherson playing “Tea for Two”. And because this night is so well attended. I guarantee you will see someone you know that will make the show all the better.

But they can eat them! The Fidelio’s are really great, especially when coupled with their coffee.
